Steps to getting the right sign or banner

Time to get a sign or banner!

All the decisions that go into getting the best sign for your needs can be a daunting task if you have never done it before. Not to worry! Below are a few tips to help decide on the best material to use and tips on what content your sign should contain. First Steps

When you are first considering a sign or banner knowing a few vital pieces of information will help narrow down options and prices.

The first is overall size. The majority of pricing is based on a square foot cost. Factors to think about is the maximum distance you would like your sign or banner seen or read from.

The second most important decision which is what materials to use. Knowing if it will be interior or exterior and the longevity you are looking for can quickly narrow down options.

When planning out your sign or banner there are a couple important things to keep in mind to increase the impact and visibility of your sign.

Short Message

In many cases signs are only looked at for a few seconds to get your message across. Because of this text should be kept to a minimum. Only very important details should be on the sign.

Clean

This kind of goes along with the short message. With only having your potential reader’s attention for a few seconds you need to have a clear view of what you want them to see. If your sign has a lot of clutter it is tougher to read quickly which may lead to your message not getting through to them at all.

Environment

Know what will be around your sign that you are putting up. This will lead to higher visibility and being seen or recognized more often. This may have to do with colors, size, placement or many other variables.

Finishing options

When putting together a rigid sign or banner keep in mind there are some extra steps you can take to give it that finishing touch. Rounded corners or standoffs can add a little extra pizzaz. We also offer 4 ever frames that can be used with all of our outdoor materials. It is PVC covers for sign posts that come in a variety of colors or aluminum posts are available to add a professional look the your sign. Banner frames can keep your banner's message prominate even when the weather is less than cooperative. Ask us about different finishing options to give your sign or banner an extra kick!

Local Restictions

Sioux City and most cities have restrictions on the size, type and amount of time signs can be displayed. Always check with your local city codes to make sure all your work selecting and getting a sign produced conforms to your local codes. Also in most cases for permanent signs need you to fill out and file a sign permit with the city. Siouxland Signs can do this on your behalf for a modest fee.
